Born On The 4th Of July!

I'm so excited for Independence Day this year! I've seen so many cute things in the blogospehere and found a few things I had to make.
Starting with this beadboard flag.

Isn't it AWESOME!
Thank you Brown Paper Packages.

And I couldn't resist making a patriotic monogram! The only thing I ran out of time for was my "freedom" banner. Maybe next year!

EAT . . . again

Remember these? For some reason they never seemed to work for me. I didn't even bother putting them up when we moved.

Now that I know what I want to do in our kitchen, I fixed them. So this is take 2. Nothing fancy, but much more appealing for me!

Name That Sign!

This beast is the reason I need one of those super duper Cricuts. All the time I would have saved if I could cut on a 12x24 mat. I drool everytime I see one on sale.

So I have no desire to do another one of these any time soon, but none the less, I'm okay with how this turned out. It will make a nice wedding gift for my BIL's friend.

Spread Some Love

Just a little V-Day prettiness.

XOXO

I love blocks, they're so versatile. They can say whatever you want and be placed just about anywhere in your own personal style.

I got together with a girlfriend the other day and built up my muscles sanding all the blocks down. She was making a set of 3, I made a set of 4 for a friend and a set of 4 for me. FUN FUN!

The first set I made a for a friend. I put LOVE on one side and XOXO on the other, so she could display what she chose.

I had too many LOVE valentine decor, so I made mine the XOXO. I'm thinking I'll add KISS to the reverse side for next year.

Hello Utah

Some of you may or may not know, but we recently moved to Utah. It's beautiful here, but a BIG adjustment, at least for me.

Anyhoo, because we're not in our own house yet, my crafting has been slow to say the least. But I have had time to do a few small projects.
Like this beauty. My SIL wanted a name sign for my adorable nephew. I wish I had a picture of him so you could appreciate his cuteness. But the cute sign will have to do!

I was very pleased with how it turned out, I just wish it had been bigger. It was supposed to go above the crib, but by the time it was finished and hung, it looked pretty pathetic in the large space.

Nonetheless, I loved the colors and the beadboard. It was fun to do, I may just have to make one for Sadie when I do her room!

EAT again

I literally finished this project the day we were packing the truck to move. I procrastinated so long, that I actually didn't have the time to assemble the finished project. So I handed all the pieces over to my SIL and she got it done.

EAT seems to be the thing to put in your kitchen right now. You've seen my version, which I still need to adjust. But this isn't about me, my wonderful sis-in-law wanted something for her kitchen. Together we came up with the idea for her EAT, and thought it may add a touch of something to have it framed.

So I gathered my supplies and went to work. I covered the letters in the paper my SIL picked out. Bought some beadboard at home Depot and had them cut it to size for me. Bought the frame at Goodwill, sanded it down and painted it. I finally got around to painting the beadboard before everyone showed up to pack the truck.

I believe the credit should be given to my brother-in-law for gluing the beadboard in the frame and attaching the letters. I thought it turned out really cute.

EAT

I was inspired after seeing it in somone else's kitchen and then again on the show Cougar Town. I loved the word EAT hanging. Although I don't have a ton of wall space in my kitchen, I had one little nook that was crying out for some attention.

I knew the green and blue papers were perfect for my kitchen right from the get go, and then after deciding to add orange, this is what I came up with.

I'm not entirely convinced I love the combination yet, but they are up and I can look at them this weekend and decide whether they stay or go.
I think part of what I am not liking is the black distressing ink I decided to use on the edges. It kind of ruined it for me. Anyone have an opinion? I might have to re-do them. Hmmmmmmm...
